Police ID Man Found Dead In LI Woods

The man's death appears to be non-criminal in nature and not related to the cold, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Police have identified the man dead in the woods in Riverhead early Thursday morning as Cuah Temoc Trinidad, 44, of Riverhead.

According to Riverhead Town police, at about 6:58 a.m., a call came in about an unconscious male found in the wooded area north of West Main Street, police said.

When patrol officers and members of the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded, it was determined that the male was deceased, police said.

Riverhead police detectives responded and, along with a physician assistant from the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office, determined that the death appeared to be non-criminal in nature — and not related to the recent colder temperatures, authorities said.

The body was removed to the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office, police said.
