Man Killed In Suffolk County Crash
Another person was treated for non-life threatening injuries, police say.

RIDGE, NY — A Farmingville man was killed in a two-car crash in Ridge early Tuesday, police said.
According to Suffolk County Police, the crash took place at the intersection of Middle Country Road and Wading River Hollow Road in Ridge at 12:10 a.m. Necmi Gurel, 57, died at the scene, police said.
Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating the crash; Candace Porter, 29, of Amityville, was driving a 2015 Toyota Corolla northbound on Wading River Hollow Road when her vehicle collided with a 2005 Honda Sedan, driven by Gurel, that was traveling westbound on Middle Country Road at 12:10 a.m., police said.

Gurel was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner; Porter, 29, of Amityville, was transported via Ridge Rescue ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
