Man Knifed Behind Local Business: Police

He suffered a laceration to the ear and neck, police said.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A man was assaulted with a knife in Riverhead Wednesday night, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, the attack took place at 8:44 p.m. near the Riverhead rail road station; upon arrival it was determined that the victim was assaulted with a knife by an unknown man, causing a laceration to his ear and neck.

The attacker fled the area before police arrived; Riverhead Police Department's K9-1 unit responded to the scene and attempted to track the suspect with no success, police said.

The Riverhead Police Department's detective division was notified and responded, and it was later determined that the incident occurred to the rear of an auto glass store on West Main Street, police said.

The victim was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released, police said.
