Man Punched, Kicked By Would Be Cellphone Thieves: Police
He was able to call for help and the suspects ran away, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A man was punched and kicked during a robbery attempt in Riverhead, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, a call came in on Saturday at 11:33 p.m. regarding a possible robbery occurring near East Avenue and East Second Street.
Officers located a man, 29, who said he was the victim of an attempted robbery, police said.

The victim said while talking on his cell phone on East Second Street, he was approached by three individuals; one struck him in the face and demanded the phone, police said.
When the victim refused to turn over his phone, he was punched and kicked by the trio while struggling over control of his phone, police said.

He was able to call out for help and the three fled the area on foot, police said.
The victim described his attackers as being two black teens and one black female teen; all in their middle to late teens, police said.
The victim was treated at the scene by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Inc. and transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center with injuries sustained during the attack, police said.
The injuries were non-life threatening in nature, police said.
