Man Robbed, Choked In Downtown Riverhead: Police

Two men and a woman were arrested and charged after a man reported that he was robbed and choked on East Main Street, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Three people were arrested after robbing and choking a man in downtown Riverhead Wednesday night, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, Jason M. Williams, 35, and Kristin M. Blevins, 32, both of whom are homeless, were arrested Wednesday night and charged with two counts each of second-degree robbery. Tyler J. Sypher-Burgess, 26, of Riverhead, was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree robbery, second-degree strangulation, and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, police said.

At 9:33 p.m. the Riverhead Town Police received a call about a robbery at the corner of Howell Avenue and East Main Street, authorities said.A man told police that two other men had beaten him up and stolen money from him, police said.

Officers located the two men a short distance away and after a lengthy investigation, the three were arrested, police said. All three were processed and held for morning arraignment at Riverhead Justice Court, police said.
