Man Robbed In Riverhead Bank Parking Lot: Police

He had just used the ATM and the robber ripped the wallet from his hands, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A man was robbed after using the ATM at a Riverhead bank Thursday night, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, the incident took place at 11:54 p.m. in the parking lot of the Chase bank on West Main Street.

The man had just withdrawn money from the ATM and was attempting to leave the parking lot in his vehicle when he was stopped by a man driving a green-colored, older model extended cab pickup truck, who demanded his wallet, police said.

A fight ensued over the wallet with the robber ultimately ripping the wallet from the man's hands and removing the money he had just withdrawn, police said.

The robber fled in the pickup, heading east after turning onto East Main Street, police said.

The robber may have been accompanied by two women, police said. The robber is described as. a Black man, tall, with a thin build; one of the women is described as white with blonde hair, possibly in her late 50s, police said. No description was given for the other woman, who was Black, police said.

The man received an injury to his mouth during the fight but refused medical attention at the time of the investigation, police said.
