Man Stabbed In Riverhead Saturday: Police
After he was stabbed, the man made his way to a local eatery, asking that someone call an ambulance, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A man was stabbed in Riverhead Saturday, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, the incident is believed to have taken place south of Railroad Avenue in the Court Street parking lot; a 911 call came in at 1:01 p.m. from an individual who said a man had entered Spicy's on West Main Street, saying that he'd been stabbed and asking for someone to call an ambulance, police said.
Riverhead Police patrol units headed to Spicy's Restaurant, where the 21-year old was located, police said. The man stabbed had only sought assistance at Spicy's — the actual scene of the assault had possibly occurred in the Court Street parking lot, police said.

The man was treated at Spicy's Restaurant and transported by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps EMTs to Peconic Bay Medical Center's emergency room with non-life threatening stab wounds, police said.
The Riverhead Police Department's Detective Division responded and continued the assault investigation, which was concentrated in the parking lot area between Court Street and Railroad Avenue.

After the detectives' initial investigation it was determined that the man had been assaulted by an unknown black man armed with a knife; the man is described as 6'2" tall, wearing black and white basketballs shorts, with "messy hair," police said.
The stabbing is not believed to be a random act of violence; the two may be known to each other, police said.
