Man Stole From Lowe's, Home Depot, Target: Cops

The Hampton Bays man was held in lieu of $20,000 bail, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A Hampton Bays man was arrested after he stole from Home Depot, Lowe's and Target in Riverhead, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, 36-year old Joshua Bernal was arrested on Wednesday and charged with fourth degree grand larceny, a felony, and petty larceny, a misdemeanor, for crimes that took place at Home Depot on Old Country Road. He was also arrested on 3 Riverhead Justice Court active warrants that stemmed from charges of petty larceny thefts at the Riverhead Lowe's and Target stores, police said.

After numerous complaints of larcenies from the Home Depot on Old Country Road and Lowe's on Old Country Road, the Riverhead Police Department's detective squad and COPE unit launched an investigation into the incidents, police said.

During the investigation, it was determined that Bernal was identified as a suspect in numerous larcenies from the 2 locations, police said.

Bernal was arrested, processed and held for arraignment in the Riverhead Justice Court, police said.

He was remanded to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000 bail, police said.
