Man Sustains 'Serious Internal Injuries' After Falling Off Bulldozer in Riverhead: Cops
The victim was airlifted to Stony Brook, police said.

RIVERHEAD, NY - A man was seriously injured after falling off a bulldozer in Riverhead Tuesday, police said.
According to Riverhead Police, the accident took place at 10:19 a.m. behind Riverhead Nissan on Route 58; police responded to a report “of an injured subject who had fallen off a bulldozer.”
Upon arrival, police found a man, 42, lying injured on the ground on a piece of land between RIverhead Nissan and Costco that had been cleared and was being leveled, police said.

Police said it was determined the man had fallen off the bulldozer and was injured after coming in contact with the machinery.
The bulldozer continued operating unmanned and traveled westbound across the property before striking a parked, unoccupied van and finally coming to rest in the rear parking lot of Applebee’s, police said.

The victim was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital by a Suffolk County Police Aviation Unit, police said; he appears to have sustained “serious internal injuries” in the accident, police said.
No one else was injured in the incident, police said.
OSHA was notified and responded to conduct their own investigation, police said.
