Man Tries To Rob Woman In Walmart Parking Lot: Police
A man tried to "forcibly steal" a laptop from a woman sitting in her vehicle outside Walmart, police say.
RIVERHEAD, NY — A Coram man was arrested after he tried to steal a laptop from a woman sitting in her vehicle in the Riverhead Walmart parking lot, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, a 911 call came in at 7:34 p.m. about a disturbance in the parking lot of Walmart on Old Country Road. Derrick Dixon, 46, attempted to "forcibly steal" the laptop from the woman; he was detained, arrested, and charged with third-degree robbery, police said.
Detectives responded to assist in the investigation, police said.
