Man Who Threatened Police With Meat Cleaver Tased: PD
Before threatening police, he menaced someone with the meat cleaver after asking for money, police say.
SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A man was tased and arrested after threatening police with a meat cleaver in Southampton, authorities said.
The incident took place on Thursday at 2:27 p.m.; Southampton Village Police received a 911 call about two people fighting with a knife on the grounds of the 7-Eleven on North Sea Road, police said.
When police arrived, a man holding a 12-inch meat clever was ordered to drop the weapon, authorities said.

Jose Antonio Palacios, 39, who is without a known address, failed to obey police officers' orders and advanced toward them in a threatening manner; a taser was deployed to subdue and disarm Palacios, police said.
He was taken into custody without further incident, police said.

The person he'd threatened before officers arrived told police that Palacios had approached him asking for money and food, authorities said. When told "no," Palacios became aggressive while threatening him with the meat clever, police said.
Palacios was arrested and charged with third-degree attempted robbery, a felony; second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both misdemeanors; and second-degree harassment, a violation, police said.
Palacios was processed and released on an appearance ticket as per the current bail reform rules, police said.
