Mass Casualty Drill Planned For Hospital Saturday
The training exercise will test the public safety response to a simulated mass casualty event; watch for road closures.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A mass casualty drill will be held at Peconic Bay Medical Center Saturday.
Local, county and state agencies, as well as the New York State Department of Homeland Security, will team up for "Operation Black Swan 2018," a full-scale mass casualty exercise aimed at testing the public safety response to a simulated mass casualty event.
Numerous professionally moulaged “victim actors,” will be triaged and transported to area hospitals as part of the exercise, organizers said.

Motorists should be aware of road closures from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Roanoke Avenue and Middle Road southbound to the Roanoke Avenue traffic circle.
The event will include representatives from Peconic Bay Medical Center, Northwell Health Emergency Management, the Riverhead Police Department, Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the Suffolk County Police Department, Suffolk County EMS, Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, the Suffolk County Correction Officers Association, the Suffolk County Department of Rescue & Emergency Services, Suffolk County EMS, Nassau & Suffolk Hospital Council, Inc., New York State Police, NYS Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Services and the NYS Department of Health.
