Motorcyclist Seriously Injured After Striking Deer
The man was found lying in the road, police say.

CALVERTON, NY — A motorcyclist was seriously injured after striking a deer Sunday night, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, a call came in at 8:22 p.m. about a motorcycle crash with injuries on New York State Route 25 west of Manor Lane in Calverton. Responding officers found a male victim in the roadway, police said.
Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to the scene; the motorcyclist was flown to Stony Brook University Hospital via Suffolk County Police aviation for treatment of serious injuries, police said.

After the Riverhead Police Department's detective division was requested to the scene to assist in the investigation, it was determined that the motorcycle struck a deer in the roadway, police said.
