New Extended Summer Hours For Beach Bathrooms

RIVERHEAD, NY — Beachgoers can now enjoy the facilities a bit longer during the summer months in Riverhead.

Beginning on Saturday, all bathroom facilities at Reeves Beach, Wading River Beach, Iron Pier Beach and South Jamesport Beach will be open until 7 p.m. They were previously only open until 5 p.m.

Supervisor Laura Jens-Smith discussed the extension. “The summer months are some of the most enjoyable in Riverhead, and residents should not have to worry about access to bathrooms if they wish to visit our beaches later in the day," she said.

Hours at bathrooms will continue to be extended seven days a week throughout the summer season. Bathrooms will close if there is rain during the course of the day, and the department finds it necessary to close the facilities. The later hours will continue until Labor Day Weekend.
