Orient Harbor Fireworks Canceled Due To Weather

ORIENT, NY — A fireworks show over Orient Harbor originally scheduled for Saturday night has been canceled due to weather, organizers said.

"We are disappointed to announce that, due to the high probability of lightning in the Saturday forecast, we must cancel this event. Lightning presents a serious danger to the fireworks crew while working on a steel barge with a tall crane and explosive materials," organizers said.

And, the announcement added: "We intend to file a new permit for a show in the very near future."
