Paddle the River - Invasive plant species removal

Paddle the Peconic and Help Remove Water-Primrose to Protect the River

Event Date and Start Time / End Time: Tuesday, July 23th at 9:30AM - 2:00PM Event Description:  Bring your own canoe or kayak, paddle the Peconic River and remove the invasive plant species Ludwigia peploides, or more commonly known as Water Primrose.  Please RSVP to Julie Nace at jsnace@gw.dec.state.ny.us or 631-444-0871.  Please wear sunblock, a life jacket, and gloves.  Bring your own canoe or kayak, water and lunch.
 Event Location, Address, including Town/City and Zip Code: Peconic Lake Estates Civic Organization (PLECO), Calverton, NY.

Directions: From Western Long Island: Take Long Island Expressway to Exit 71 (Route 24). Go to end of exit ramp and turn right on County Road 24. Make first left onto South River Rd. PLECO property will be on left side after about 1 mile, just west of the intersection with Pinehurst Blvd. From Eastern Long Island: Go west on Route 25. Turn left at Forge Rd (just east of Tanger Mall). Follow Forge Rd over Peconic River and veer right on South River Rd. PLECO property will be on right side after about ½ mile, just west of the intersection with Pinehurst Blvd.
