Pair Tries To Steal Clothes From Tanger: Police

It was the second time they targeted the same store, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A duo was caught after trying to steal clothing from the Tommy Hilfiger outlet store at Tanger in Riverhead, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, officers responded to the store, located at 1770 West Main Street, Suite 101, on Friday at 12:02 p.m. in reference to an attempted larceny investigation.

Employees at the store reported that an unknown man and woman attempted to steal various clothing items from the store without paying, police said.

The pair fled the store with no proceeds and were located in the area by responding police, authorities said.

Luis Palacios-Garzon and July Beltran, both from Queens, were arrested and charged with attempted petty larceny, police said.

Upon further investigation it was determined that both were responsible for a prior grand larceny from the Tommy Hilfiger outlet store reported on June 29, police said.

Both were then also charged with one count of fourth degree grand larceny, police said.

They were transported to the Riverhead Police Department for arrest processing and held for morning arraignment, police said.
