Peconic Bay Medical Center Named to America’s Best-In-State Hospitals 2026
Recognition Reinforces 75 Years of Commitment to Advanced, Accessible Care on the East End
Peconic Bay Medical Center (PBMC) recently announced that it has been named to America’s Best-In-State Hospitals 2026 by Newsweek, in partnership with global data intelligence firm Statista. The recognition places PBMC among 800 top hospitals nationwide honored for clinical excellence, patient experience and innovation in outcomes reporting. PBMC was one of only 10 hospital facilities on Long Island to be included in this prestigious list, seven of which were Northwell facilities. For PBMC, the designation reflects its ongoing mission to enhance access to high-level, advanced healthcare services for residents of Long Island’s East End.
“PBMC is a community hospital, and we take pride in helping to bring peace of mind to residents throughout Suffolk County to know they have access to one of the best hospitals in the country in their backyard,” said Amy Loeb, EdD, MBA, RN, President of PBMC. “This recognition is a testament to the extraordinary dedication of our physicians, nurses and team members who work every day to deliver outstanding care close to home. For 75 years, PBMC has served as a cornerstone of healthcare in Eastern Suffolk County. As we look to the future, we are steadfast in our focus to continue expanding access to advanced services so our community never feels it must travel far or compromise its health for a suburban way of life.”
The annual ranking evaluated more than 6,000 hospitals across the United States and is based on a rigorous methodology that includes quality metrics, reputation among medical professionals, patient experience scores, nationwide surveys and other industry reports. Along with being named one of the best hospitals in New York State, Peconic Bay Medical Center has also earned specialty Excellence Awards such as the 2026 Coronary Intervention Excellence Award™ and 2026 Pulmonary Care Excellence Award™ from Healthgrades and has been listed among the 100 best hospitals in the country for Gastrointestinal care. PBMC has also achieved an ‘A’ safety rating from Leapfrog.

The honor comes on the heels of PBMC’s 75th anniversary celebration and at a time of significant investment in the hospital’s future. In April 2026, PBMC is slated to open The Bill and Ruth Ann Harnisch Neurosciences Center, which will expand access to advanced neurological and stroke services. In addition, construction is progressing on the Emilie Roy Corey Center for Women and Infants, which will enhance maternal and newborn care in the region and is anticipated to open in the summer of 2027. These milestone expansions, which will further advance essential health services in the region, have been made possible by the incredible generosity and support of donors and community advocates. As part of Northwell Health, PBMC also continues to benefit from systemwide resources, clinical expertise and capital investments designed to elevate care across the region. PBMC was one of twelve Northwell facilities to be recognized.
“Having a dozen Northwell hospitals make this prestigious list is a powerful affirmation of the work happening across our system,” said John D’Angelo, MD, president and CEO of Northwell Health. “As we continue our integration, this recognition reflects the strength of a unified care model that combines local leadership with the scale and clinical excellence of a 28-hospital system, delivering exceptional care close to home.”
