Pedestrian Hit By Pickup Outside Riverhead Planet Fitness: Police
He was hospitalized for treatment of his injuries, police say.
RIVERHEAD, NY — A pedestrian was hit by a pickup truck outside the Riverhead Planet Fitness Friday, police said.
According to Riverhead Town police, the incident took place at about 9:29 a.m. in the parking lot of the gym, located on Old Country Road. A woman, 52, driving a 2017 Honda Ridgeline, struck a man, 68, of Aquebogue; he sustained injuries as a result.
The man was first transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps, where he was treated for his injuries. He was then subsequently transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for further treatment, police said.

His status is not immediately known, police said.
The woman was also transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where she was treated and released, police said.

The Riverhead Police Department's detective division and the New York State Police Department's forensic investigation unit responded to the scene to assist in the investigation, police said.
No criminality is suspected at this time; however, the investigation remains ongoing, police said. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have further information pertaining to the investigation are asked to contact the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500.
