Person Armed With Handgun Tries To Get Into Riverhead Motel: PD

RIVERHEAD, NY — A person armed with a handgun tried to gain entry into a window at the Greenview Inn on West Main Street in Riverhead Wednesday night, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, a call came in about an attempted burglary at 10:53 p.m. The person who made the report said that a person with a handgun tried to enter the room, kicking the door then trying to get through the window, before fleeing the area, police said.

The person was reportedly wearing dark clothing, a face covering, and sunglasses, police said.

Despite a search of the area by Riverhead Police officers and a K-9 unit, no one was found.

Riverhead detectives also responded to help with the investigation, police said.
