Photos: Thousands Flock to Peconic Riverfront For Fireworks, Fun in Riverhead

Riverhead came alive with music, laughter, picnics and fireworks Sunday night.

RIVERHEAD, NY - The Peconic Riverfront came alive Sunday night as thousands flocked to downtown Riverhead for a patriotic night of fun.

The Independence Day event, which featured a fireworks spectacular, was presented by the Riverhead Business Improvement District.

Guests enjoyed a performance by Brady Rymer and the Little Band That Could, along with face painters, stilt walkers, balloon artists and jugglers.

The Misspent Youth Band got the party started; a sea of American flags were given away at the event.

Families and friends brought picnics and spent the night outside on blankets and chairs by the river, waiting for the fireworks to illuminate the sky.
