Police Advise Motorists to Avoid Traveling on Riverhead Roads

Conditions on certain roads are hazardous due to current weather conditions.

Due to sustained high winds in the Riverhead area, the Riverhead Police Department request that motorist avoid traveling on the following Town, County and State roads:

  • Reeves Avenue
  • Hulse Landing Road (between Route 25A andSound Avenue)
  • Sound Avenue (East of Roanoke Avenue & East of Northville Turnpike)
  • Northville Turnpike (North East of Doctors Path)
  • State Route 25 in Jamesport (East of Herricks Lane)
  • Peconic Bay Boulevard (East of Tuts Lane)

Conditions on the listed roads are hazardous and can become impassable due to drifting and white out conditions, according to police.

Travel is not recommended and should be avoided to allow highway crews to clear the roadways as the winds subside, police said.
