Police: Cutchogue Man Arrested For Possession of Marijuana

The man was seen by off-duty Riverhead Police officers while driving to work, police said.

A Cutchogue man was arrested on a drug charge after being seen by Riverhead Town Police officers on their way to work in Jamesport on Sunday afternoon.

Shortly before 4 p.m., a 2014 Jeep Cherokee was seen driving west bound on Peconic Bay Boulevard by the off-duty Riverhead Police personnel heading to work, police said.

A strong smell of marijuana and smoke was coming from the car, police said.

The car was then stopped by a marked patrol unit.

Jovan T. Lehrfeld-Booker, 21, was found to be the driver and Thomas J. Kraebel Jr., 22, of Laurel was the only passenger in the car, police said.

Lahrfeld-Booker revealed that he was in possession of marijuana, police said.

He was placed under arrest for fifth degree possession of marijuana, processed and released on $100 bail with a later return date for arraignment at the Riverhead Justice Court.
