Police: Flanders Man Arrested For Driving Drunk With Suspended License in Southold

The arrest was made on Friday morning.

A Flanders man was arrested for driving drunk with a suspended license in Southold on Friday morning, according to Southold Town Police.

Robert Hansult, 58, was seen speeding and crossed the double yellow lines multiple times while driving along Boisseau Avenue and Route 48, according to police.

Hansult had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, slow slurred speech, blood-shot glassy eyes and was unsteady on his feet, police said.

He also failed the standardized field sobriety tests and a pre-screen breath test administered by the officer, police said.

After a further investigation and a check of the NYS DMV, Hansult was also found to have a suspended license for failure to pay a fine out of Southold Town Justice Court from January, according to police.

He was arrested and held for morning arraignment.
