Police: Florida Man Injures Two Officers at Riverhead Hotel
The man cut the Riverhead officers with a blade while the officers were attempting to arrest him, police say.

A Florida man cut two officers with a blade at a Riverhead hotel on Saturday morning, according to Riverhead Town Police.
Police responded to the Hyatt Place at 451 East Main Street on a report of a man refusing to the leave the lobby of the hotel at about 6:42 a.m., police said.
Upon police arrival, Robert Alan Vescio, 45, who was not a guest of the Hyatt, was found in the lobby and was refusing to leave the hotel, police said.

While officers were talking with Vescio, he reached into a backpack and threatened the officers, indicating that he was armed, according to police.
As officers attempted to arrest him, he pulled a sawzall blade out of the backpack and cut two of the officers, according to police.

After a struggle, Viscio was taken into custody and taken to the Riverhead Police Department, police said.
The injured officers were taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where they were treated and released, according to police.
Vescio was processed and charged with two counts of second degree assault, obstructing governmental administration and trespass, police said.
Viscio was arraigned and turned over to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility on $50,000 bail, police said.
