Police: Hampton Bays Man Arrested After Fleeing Crash

A Hampton Bays man who was involved in a crash in Hampton Bays on Thursday was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, according to Southampton Town Police.
Salvador Lopez Hernandez, 24, fled the scene of a crash with another vehicle on Montauk Highway at Peconic Road in Hampton Bays, according to police.

Police got the license plate of Hernandez’s vehicle from a witness and arrested him at his home at about 7:24 p.m. Thursday, police said.
Police did not specify who was injured in the crash.

Hernandez was transported to Southampton Town Police headquarters for processing and held for a morning arraignment.
