Police ID Pedestrian Killed In Calverton Crash
Another person was taken to the hospital for evaluation, police say.

CALVERTON, NY — Police have identified a pedestrian killed in a Calverton crash Thursday.
According to Suffolk County Police, Manuel Monzon, 39, of Calverton, died after being struck by a vehicle at 11:20 p.m. on Nugent Drive and Pinehurst Boulevard.
Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating the crash that took place when Monzon, walking on Nugent Drive, was struck by a 2001 Honda Civic.

Monzon was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician's assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.
The driver of the Honda, a 31-year old Riverhead woman, was not injured; one of five passengers in the Civic was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead for evaluation, police said.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
