Police: Man Found Unconscious in Car in McDonald's Parking Lot Charged With DWAI

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon.

A Westhampton man was arrested for driving while ability impaired by drugs after he was found unconscious in his car in a McDonald’s parking lot in Wading River on Monday afternoon, according to Riverhead Town Police.

Police responded to the McDonalds on Route 25A shortly after 12:15 p.m. on on a report that a car that had driven over a curb in the parking lot, police said.

The driver, identified as Eric A. Sweet, 36, was found unconscious with the car in drive, police said.

The car was accessed and placed in park, police said.

The Wading River Fire Department responded and transported Sweet to Peconic Bay Medical Center, according to police.

Sweet was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, possession of a hypodermic instrument, and two counts of criminal possession of controlled substance, according to police.
