Police: Man Hospitalized After Falling Off Bike in Riverhead

A bicyclist was hospitalized after falling while riding in Riverhead on Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

Police confirmed that a bicyclist, who has not yet been identified, fell off his bike on East Main Street around 4 p.m.

Paramedic Ray Bonner told Riverhead News-Review that the 26-year-old male victim was not wearing a helmet when he crashed and “went over the handlebars” while riding near the Long Island Aquarium.

The bicyclist was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital.
