Police: Mattituck Woman Arrested For Several Thefts in Riverhead Area
The thefts occurred during the past few weeks.

A Mattituck woman was recently arrested for several thefts in the Riverhead area on Thursday, according to Riverhead Town Police.
Within the last several weeks, Riverhead police have received numerous reports of thefts occurring at Riverhead vineyards, farm stands and parking lots.
In most instances, it was reported that unknown person entered unlocked cars and stole pocketbooks and other valuables, police said.

The Riverhead Detective Division conducted an investigation and arrested Cheryl Gormez, 50, in connection with two of the previously reported thefts, police said.
Gormez was found to be in possession of stolen credit cards belonging to one of the victims and attempted to use it to make purchases on Oct. 13 at the Citgo Gas station on 1050 Osborne Avenue in Riverhead, police said.

In addition, Gormez was found to be in possession of jewelry belonging to a second victim when she sold a Gold Ring on Oct. 26 at Riverhead Gold and Diamonds on 316 East Main Street in Riverhead, according to police.
She was processed and held for arraignment purposes on two counts of fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property, two counts of third degree identity theft and one count of fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property, according to police.
