Police: Owner of Riverhead Restaurant Charged With Several Violations

The owner was charged with the violations as a result of a State Liquor Authority compliance check, police say.

The owner of a Riverhead restaurant was charged with several violations after a State Liquor Authority compliance check earlier this month, according to Riverhead Town Police.

The investigation was conducted by the Riverhead Police Department, Riverhead Town Code Enforcement, and Riverhead Town Fire Marshalls Office at the Sabor Latino Restaurant on 192 Old Country Road on August 14, police said.

The owner, Porfirio Rivera, 56, of Riverhead was charged with six State Liquor Authority violations, 11 Riverhead Town Code violations, and 10 New York State Fire Code violations, according to police.

Earlier this month, two men were arrested after they reportedly assaulted three women during a fight in the back of the restaurant, according to police.

Police said they will be conducting similar investigations periodically to make sure that businesses that serve alcoholic beverages in town are in compliance with the laws.
