Police: Riverhead Man Arrested For Stealing Car, Using Stolen Credit Cards
The victim found her stolen car parked at a Riverhead 7-Eleven, police say.

A Riverhead man was arrested for stealing a car from Mastic Beach and using stolen credit cards from the car in Riverhead on Saturday night, according to Riverhead Town Police.
Police responded to 7-Eleven on 1733 Old Country Road in Riverhead at 10:47 p.m. on a report of a stolen car that was found by its owner, police said.
The victim reported her 2001 Chevrolet Silverado stolen from Handy Pantry in Mastic Beach to the Suffolk County Police earlier that day, police said.

After being advised from her bank that her credit cards which were left in the car were being used in the area, the victim came to Riverhead to find her car when she found it parked at the 7-Eleven store, according to police.
A man exited the store and attempted to enter the stolen truck when he was detained by the victim’s son and a bystander until police arrived, according to police.

The investigation led to the arrest of Andrew A. Berezny, 30, for fourth and fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property, police said.
The investigation is ongoing for possible additional charges, according to police.
Berezny was processed and held for arraignment.
