Police: Riverhead Man Drove Drunk With 11-Month-Old Child in Car

A Riverhead man was arrested under Leandra’s Law after driving drunk with an 11-month-old child in the car in Mattituck early Sunday morning, according to Southold Town Police.
Valentin Garcia, 29, was driving west on County Road 48 in Mattituck shortly before 2 a.m., police said.

He was driving erratically and changed his lane of travel unsafely, police said.
Garcia was found to be intoxicated with his child in the car, according to police.

He was subsequently charged with a felony DWI under the Leandra’s law statute as well as several traffic violations, police said.
