Police: Riverhead Man Robbed, Assaulted by Three Teens

The incident occurred on East Main Street near Prospect Place.

A Riverhead man reported he was robbed and assaulted by three teens in Riverhead early Sunday morning, according to Riverhead Town Police.

Rudy Garcia reported to police that while walking home on East Main Street near Prospect Place at about 2:10 a.m., he was approached by three unknown males who demanded his money, police said.

He refused to give them money and was then physically assaulted by the men who then stole Garcia’s cell phone, according to police.

The males then fled the area and Garcia walked to the police department to report the incident, according to police.

He described the suspects as three males in their late teens, police said.

Police searched of the area where the robbery occurred that included a K9 unit was unable to locate the suspects, police said.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone who may have witnessed the incident is requested to call the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500.
