Police: Riverhead Woman Drives Drunk With Suspended License in Mattituck

A Riverhead woman was arrested on a DWI charge in Mattituck on Sunday morning, according to Southold Town Police.

Paula Valencia, 37, was seen driving her 2003 Mazda sedan east Route 25 in Mattituck and was failing to maintain her lane of travel, police said.

She was pulled over on Route 25 and Wagan Wheel Lane and upon investigation, Valencia was found to have a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath, slurred speech, blood-shot glassy eyes and was unsteady on her feet, police said.

Valencia failed standardized field sobriety tests and failed a pre-screen breath test administered by the investigating officer, police said.

She was also found to be driving with a suspended license, police said.

She was arrested and transported to police headquarters where she was processed and held for morning arraignment.
