Police Seeking Man Who Stole Shopping Bags From Customers

The man threatening the two men while he fled in a red Toyota, police said.

Riverhead Town Police are seeking a man who stole two customer’s shopping bags, threatened them, and fled in a red Toyota at Tanger Outlets on Sunday evening.

Two men reported that while in the parking area of the outlets shortly after 5:30 p.m., they placed three shopping bags down on the ground behind a car and then walked to the front passenger side of that car, police said.

An unknown man then removed the bags and fled in a car, police said.

One of the men chased the car on foot, police said.

At some point the car turned around in the parking lot and while passing the victim, the driver displayed what appeared to be a handgun and said “don’t come closer or I will shoot you”, according to police.

The car is described as a red four door Toyota.
