Police: Shirley Man Hospitalized After Crashing Into Parked Rail Road Vehicle During Police Chase
The incident occurred on Saturday morning.

A Shirley man was hospitalized after he crashed into a parked rail road vehicle while attempting to escape from police in Riverhead early Saturday morning, according to Riverhead Town Police.
Riverhead police became involved in a car chase with a 2005 Honda Accord that failed to stop for a marked police unit on East Main Street by the OK Petro, police said.
The car fled eastbound on to Hubbard Avenue, traveling at a high speed, until it ultimately lost control at Edgar Avenue and Meetinghouse Creek Road, where it came in contact with the rail road tracks and hit a parked rail road vehicle, police said.

The driver, identified as Tremaine B. Kelly, 30, attempted to flee on foot, but was apprehended by police.
He was placed under arrest and transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for injuries sustained in the accident, police said.

Kelly was found to be in violation of his New York State Parole terms and conditions, according to police.
He was released on a Desk Appearance ticket for a later court appearance, due to his admittance at PBMC.
He faces numerous New York State Vehicle and Traffic violations and a Penal law crime, police said.
