Police: Teen Jogger Hospitalized After Hit-and-Run

The 17-year-old was hit by a car that fled the scene Monday afternoon, police say.

A teen was hospitalized after she was hit by a car while jogging in Baiting Hollow on Monday afternoon, according to Riverhead Town Police.

Police responded to East Meadow Drive at about 2:07 p.m. on a report that a car struck a 17-year-old female jogger and then left the scene, police said.

Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance responded and transported the teen to Peconic Bay Medical center for non-life threatening injuries, police said.

A search for the car involved in the crash was unsuccessful, police said.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone witnessed the incident is asked to call Riverhead Police at 631-727-4500.
