Police: Trio Arrested For Stealing Electronics From Cars

The arrests were made on Tuesday.

Three people were arrested on Tuesday morning for stealing several electronics from cars in the Riverhead and Calverton area over the past week, according to Riverhead Town Police.

Riverhead Town Police Patrol Units conducted a traffic stop on a 2000 Hyundai Elantra as it was driving on Ostrander Avenue in Riverhead at about 1 a.m.

The officer interviewed the driver, Katarina Bennett, 23, of Shirley, and the two passengers inside, Jason Scott, 26, of Riverhead and Marquis Nolan, 24, of Calverton, police said.

The officer found that the trio were in possession of numerous electronic items that were reported stolen from car, according to police.

Riverhead Police Detectives assisted in this investigation and found that Scott and Nolan had been involved in several thefts from cars during the overnight hours in the past week, police said.

Bennett was arrested for fourth and fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property and several traffic violations; and both Scott and Nolan were arrested for third and fourth degree grand larceny, fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property, and petty larceny, according to police.

All three were processed at Riverhead Police Headquarters and remanded to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility after being arraigned in Riverhead Justice Court Tuesday afternoon.
