Police: Two Men Arrested After Stealing Cellphone From Taxi Driver
The incident occurred in Riverhead on Friday morning.

Two men were arrested after stealing a cellphone from a taxi driver in Riverhead early Friday morning, according to Riverhead Town Police.
Police received a report of a robbery occurring near 135 Railroad Avenue at about 2:10 a.m.
A taxi driver reportedly was confronted by several people when an argument ensued and his cellphone was “forcibly removed” during the altercation, police said.

The men then fled the area in a car, police said.
Responding patrol units found the car on Raynor Avenue near Pulaski Street in Riverhead and two men, Nicholas Conforti, 24, of Flanders, and John Orlando, 36, of Manorville, were taken into custody without incident, police said.

Both men were transported to the Riverhead Police Department where they were charged with second degree robbery, according to police.
Conforti was also charged with second degree harassment and fourth degree criminal mischief, according to police.
Orlando was also charged with DWI, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana, police said.
Both were processed on their respective charges and held for arraignment.
