Police: Two Men Rob, Assault Man Outside Riverhead Deli While Third Man Steals His Car

The incident occurred on Thursday night.

Two men robbed and assaulted a man while a third man stole his car outside of a Riverhead deli on Thursday night, according to Riverhead Town Police.

Police received a 911 call of a dispute between several people outside the Polish Town Corner Deli at the corner of Pulaski Street and Hamilton Avenue at about 7:38 p.m., police said.

Responding officers found a man who reported he was just pistol whipped, assaulted and robbed of cash by two unknown men, while a third unknown person removed the man’s car from the municipal parking lot across from the Riverhead Fire House Annex on Hamilton Avenue, police said.

Riverhead Police units requested the assistance of the Riverhead K9 Unit and the Detective Division.

Riverhead K9 responded and found evidence related to the crime reported.

The victim’s car, a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban, was later found in a parking lot on Ostrander Avenue near Corwin Street, according to police.
