Police: Wading River Woman Assaulted by Live-In Boyfriend

The woman claims her boyfriend burned her right arm with a cigar torch, according to police.

A Wading River woman was hospitalized after being assaulted by her boyfriend on Tuesday afternoon, according to Riverhead Town Police.

Police responded to Wading River Manor Road on a report of a harassment shortly after 2:30 p.m.

The victim, Alison Schomb, 46, indicated that she had been assaulted by her live-in boyfriend, Charles Smith, 64, police said.

She reported to the police that Smith burned her right arm with a cigar torch, according to police.

Schomb was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for her injuries where she was treated and released.

Smith was arrested and charged with third degree assault. He was transported to the Riverhead Police Department where he was processed and will held for morning arraignment.
