Police: Woman Drove Drunk With Son in Car in Hampton Bays
Woman among two people arrested during the East End DWI Task Force this weekend, Southampton Town police say.

A woman was arrested for driving drunk with a child in the car and a man was arrested for driving while impaired by drugs during the East End DWI Task Force this weekend, according to Southampton Town Police.
Police hosted one segment of the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office East End DWI Task Force in the Town of Southampton from Saturday at 8 p.m. until Sunday at 4 a.m. to combat impaired driving during high school graduation weekend.
Police reported the following information on the two people arrested:

- Colleen Quinlan, 45, of Ridgewood, N.J., was arrested on Saturday at 10:33 p.m. at the intersection of Ponquogue Avenue and Bay Avenue East in Hampton Bays. She was stopped for failing to yield the right of way to another car while she was attempting to make a left turn from Ponquogue Ave onto Bay Avenue East where she almost crashed into an East End DWI Task Force officer. Her 11-year-old son was the front seat passenger of the car. She was found to be in an intoxicated condition and arrested. Her son was transported to local family members and her car was impounded and is subject to assest forfeiture proceedings. She was held overnight at Southampton Town Police headquarters and will be arraigned at Southampton Town Justice Court on the following charge: aggravated DWI under Leandra’s Law, endangering the welfare of a child, and failure to yield the right of way while turning left. Child Protective Services was also notified about the incident.
- Seth C. Wassenaar, 18, of Riverhead, was arrested at on Saturday at 10:58 p.m. on Flanders Road near Townsend Avenue in Flanders. He was stopped for driving without headlights and failing to keep his car within the marked travel lane. Further investigation found he was under the influence of a drug (marijuana). He was arrested and held overnight at Southampton Town Police HQ and will be arraigned at Southampton Town Justice Court on the following charges – driving while ability impaired by a drug, operating without headlights, failure to maintain lane, and violation of a license restriction.
