Police: Woman Runs Away From Group Home, Attempts to Escape Police

An unidentified woman attempted to run away from a group home in Northampton on Sunday night, according to Southampton Town Police.

Police responded at about 8:41 a.m. and discovered the woman had fled into a wooded area, police said.

A Suffolk County Sheriff K-9 unit responded and began a track, police said.

Suffolk County Aviation also responded and the helicopter was able to find the woman, who was still attempting to escape custody, police said.

Aviation was able to direct ground units and the woman was taken into custody at 10:02 p.m. without incident, according to police.

She was unharmed.
