Public's Help Sought To Catch Gun-Brandishing Thief: Police

BREAkING: The man held up the Riverhead Walgreen's at gunpoint, police said.

RIVERHEAD, NY — The search is on for a man who held up the Riverhead Walgreen's at gunpoint in September, police said.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and detectives from the Riverhead Police Department are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man who robbed the Riverhead Walgreen's Pharmacy, located at 1196 Old Country Road, on September 1 at 7:06 p.m., police said.

The man allegedly approached a cashier, displayed a handgun and demanded money; the cashier complied and the suspect fled, police said.

The robber was described as white, approximately 5' 9" tall, in his 40s, unshaven with long, black hair, police said. He was wearing sunglasses, black boots, tan shorts and a gray sweatshirt, police said.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
