Man Buried In Sand In Cesspool Collapse Rescued: Officials
He was saved after being buried in sand and taken by Suffolk County aviation to be treated, officials at the scene say.
RIVERHEAD, NY — A man buried in sand when a cesspool collapsed in Riverhead Friday has been rescued, sources at the scene said.
According to officials who responded, the man was out fully from the sand at 4:57 p.m. and taken by Suffolk County aviation to the hospital for medical evaluation.
Riverhead Police confirmed that they were at the scene at Aspen Creek Estates at Aj Ct., off Doctors Path, at 4:25 p.m.

Sources at the scene said they believed the man was initially buried to the neck but conscious and breathing, although those details could not be confirmed.
Riverhead Police and the Riverhead Fire Department were at the scene.
