Reward Offered For Information on Fatal Hit-And-Run Driver

The victim was walking on Oliver Street when he was struck by the vehicle; the driver fled the scene, police said.

RIVERHEAD, NY —Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and the Riverhead Police Department detectives are offering a reward and asking for the public’s help to identify and locate the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Riverhead last month.

Daniel Flammia was walking on the shoulder of Oliver Street, 300 feet south of Old Country Road, on November 5 at approximately 6 p.m., when he was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene, police said.

Flammia, 47, was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead and died from his injuries on November 17, police said.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
