Riverhead Christmas Parade And Bonfire Coming Soon

The favorite event will take place on Saturday, Dec. 9.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A favorite holiday tradition is set to unfold in downtown Riverhead.

According to the Riverhead Business Improvement District, the 66th Annual Riverhead Lions Club Christmas Parade & Bonfire will take place on Saturday, Dec. 9.

The parade is slated to begin on Main Street at 3 p.m., with the 18th Annual Bonfire set to begin at 4 p.m. on the Riverfront.

The event is a collaboration between the Riverhead Lions Club, the Town of Riverhead and The Riverhead BID

Guests can enjoy free photos with Santa in a beautiful Gingerbead House; free hot chocolate will be offered to all.

The rain/snow date is December 10.

All local organizations are invited to participate in the parade, and where possible, exhibit floats appropriate for the season, organizers said; tthe line of march will start at the corner of Osborne Avenue at West Main Street and will proceed east on Main Street to McDermott Avenue and then return west along the Peconic River to the Peconic River parking lot.

It is suggested that all participants arrive no later than 2:40 p.m. and be in place by 2:45 p.m.. as the parade starts at 3:00 p.m. sharp.

The parade is open to participants of all churches, religious organizations, fraternal and service clubs, organizers said, as well as fire departments, car clubs, Long Island Antique Power Association, Boy and Girl Scouts, Veterans Club, 4-H Clubs, Ambulance Corps. and any musical groups.
