Riverhead Fire Department Visits Local Elementary Schools

The department visited Aquebogue and Roanoke elementary schools to teach students about fire prevention and safety.

In honor of Fire Safety Month, this month, the Riverhead Fire Department visited Aquebogue and Roanoke elementary schools to teach students about fire prevention and fire safety.

Students visited the smokehouse, created a plan to exit safely from their homes in case of fire, learned how to exit a smoke-filled room out a window via a ladder.

The students also learned how to make a 911 call and what to say to the operator. They also participated in fire safety demonstrations in their classrooms and were reminded to encourage their parents to install and/or check fire and carbon dioxide alarms in their homes.
