Riverhead Men Charged in Sunday Night Robbery

The men were arrested soon after the robbery on Railroad Avenue, police say.

Two Riverhead men were arrested for stealing a wallet from another man on Sunday night, according to Riverhead Town Police.

Police responded to Railroad Avenue on a report of a robbery that had just occurred at 10:11 p.m.

Upon police arrival, the victim, 24-year-old Diego Abrego, of Riverhead, reported that he had just been robbed by two men who took his wallet, police said.

After a search of the area, two men who matched the suspects’ descriptions given by Abrego were found on Osborne Avenue, according to police.

The men were identified as Antonio Chin, 35, and Jaime R. Xiquin-Valdez, 26, both of Riverhead, according to police.

Abrego identified the men as the robbers and they were placed under arrest for first degree robbery, according to police.

Chin and Xiquin-Valdez were transported to the Riverhead Police Department, where they charged and held for arraignment.
